Women Led Climate Solutions
The women-led climate solutions, coordinated by the Centre for 21st Century Issues (C21st) is a compilation which aims to promote and showcase solutions targeted towards addressing more equitable and sustainable ways to climate change crisis.
The document was launched on the 6th of November, 2021 at COP26 United Nations Climate Change Conference, hosted by the UK in partnership with Italy in Glasgow.
The compilation, represents the knowledge and capability of women in crafting effective climate change solutions for the benefit of all.
It also identifies and documents women experiences as well as resources towards engaging climate change concerns for optimal inclusion into Nigeria’s climate finance strategy. It involves start-ups and existing projects or ideas across all states in Nigeria.
The document focuses on capturing solutions addressing climate change adaptation and mitigation which aligns with the priority sectors of Nigeria’s National Determined Contributions (NDCs) namely: Agriculture, Transport, Energy, Waste Management, and Water and sanitation.
Conclusively, this document highlights the role of women in addressing the climate change crisis in Nigeria, affirming that women have what it takes to address climate change.
Over the years, the Centre for 21st Century Issues (C21st) has been able to mobilise women, organise capacity buildings taking them (women) through the rudiments of how to access funds from relevant institutions, helping local women get ready for climate finance, organising local women into groups, networks for easy access to finance.
